Who
This website is designed and maintained by DESIGNpuli. All the information here is manually added for now, but I’m learning Python to create a script that can automate the content extraction so that the site update is easier. Wish me luck!
Why
“Oh, why are you posting photos announcing the event after its conclusion? You should have given us a heads-up before the event so that we all could attend too!”
– Many PERTHians
I have seen many such comments on subreddits and local Facebook pages about the need for a single source of truth that aggregates all Perth based events before they happen. After waiting for a few months expecting someone to build an events website, I launched this humble effort using readily available, off-the-shelf tech building blocks.
How
My source of inspiration is ‘Tech in Amsterdam’, a website maintained by Philip Bergqvist.
PerthEvents.au runs on the free WordPress CMS, with the free WP theme ‘Eksell’ by Anders Norén. The heart of the events list is a free WP plugin, The Events Calendar. The cover art is a modified version of the premium image downloaded from Freepik.
Everything is not free! Yes, I have paid for the domain name, the server space for hosting this website, and many ‘regular lattes’ during the development phase!
So, Will you buy me a coffee? 😉
I struggled a lot to find and edit the code on PHP files, CSS themes and WordPress engine so that this website stays minimal! I had to remove many readily-available features so that you, the site’s visitors, will not be distracted and your experience stays delightful. I’m writing a blog post about the whole adventure. As soon as I publish, I will leave a link here.
Also, help me to spread the word by sharing this website with your friends and family.
When
The event lists are updated every Sunday when I’m relatively free. I also do occasional updates during the weekday whenever I’m told about newly announced events.
You can also suggest events by e-mailing me or filling out a form. I will add them in the next update cycle.
Where
PerthEvents.au can be accessed from anywhere in the Solar System — make sure that you have good internet connectivity. Any web browser on your devices — be it smart phones, tablets like iPad, laptop and desktop computers, Apple Vision Pro, Humane AI Pin, Rabbit r1… — should be able to display the events list on this website.
Whose
The content belongs to the original owners; I claim no copyrights over the events listed.
I will try my best to publish accurate event info without any glaring mistakes. However, I suggest to always check with the respective organizers for event related information and updates.
Since I’m just a messenger, I’m not responsible for your losses/inconvenience from cancelled events or insufficient event information.
Which…
…brings us to the end of this page. Thank you for being part of our community. Explore PerthEvents.au and discover the vibrant events in Perth. Don’t forget to share your feedback and spread the word!
Discover, Connect and Experience our Perth!
Peace… 😊
